Hexagonal Tile Trend 2017
A new year always means a fresh focus on new trends for the year ahead. I normally spend my time going through all the trends and bombarding you all with what’s going to be new and high flying in every area. This year, however, I have decided to share with you thoughts on new trends over the coming weeks, so it isn’t all overwhelming.
Thinking of what’s going to adorn your Bathroom walls, or Kitchen this year, then look no further than the huge trend of the hexagonal shape. The hexagonal tile has become one of the main trends in ceramic, and porcelain tile design. You can get this natural looking tile (think honeycomb from bees) in various surfaces. Glossy, matt or relief will give an amazing visual statement and add to your room focus.
Having seen many images using lots of colour in one area, I believe the hexagonal tile does look good just as one colour and size. Very dramatic, and moves us on from our love of the metro tiles. This trend is going to be here for a while, and whereas in the past we have been so used to chrome and silver taps, we will be crying out for Black, and other metals, like Copper, Gold and Brass. I wonder which will be your favourite?
Another trend which caught my eye was the use of the hexagonal tile in the terracotta colour. Remember the 90’s when floor tiles had a big focus on terracotta? Well, it is back, but using modern shapes to make it work. Which gives a warm focus to flooring, and if it looks like this picture then count me in!
If your not a fan of white tiles then as you can see from these pictures that a nice slate grey will look amazing as a feature in your Bathroom or Kitchen. I personally love the relief effect as seen in this picture from Johnson Tiles. Such a statement, and looks the part when it comes to having a backdrop to your bathroom design. Whichever effect you choose, matt, gloss or relief, I am sure you won’t be disappointed.
